At O’ahu Resource Conservation and Development Council (O’ahu RC&D), our mission is to improve the quality of life of the people of Hawaii by encouraging activities that conserve and sustain our natural, human, cultural and economic resources. One way we accomplish our mission is by partnering with farmers, conservation groups and other like-minded organizations to work towards a common goal. Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods’ initiative, with their mission of restoring Hawaii’s native koa forests, is a perfect example of such an organization. Reforestation means so much more than new trees; it means new conservation habitat for endangered animals, new natural beauty we can enjoy, and a sustainable economic resource for our islands.
